By Eleanor Burleson Hey, Coach Hart! Why all the secrecy about May 3rd! “Mum is the word concerning Mars Hill college’s May Day program this year,” says Coach. We know, how ever, that plans are brewing be cause it is rumored that certain “angels” are having trouble learn ing their dance steps. Let us hope that the weather man is in a good mood on May 3rd., and that the bull dozer leaves a little grass for angel feet. Briefly, the following is every ounce of the censored “poop” that has managed to infiltrate the May Day “veil of secrecy”: time—May 3, four o’clock; place—Mars Hill college’s amphitheater; characters ^May Queen, Audrey Baker; Maid of Honor, Nell Thorton; King (lucky guy!) unannounced; crown bearer, Patricia Robinson; senior court attendants, Doris (More on Page 4) Glee Clubbers Win Statewide Recognition Dean Lee Names 1947-48 Marshals Dean Lee has announced that the following will serve as mar shals for the school year of 1947-48: Raleigh Baker, Chief Marshal; Mary Jane Winches ter, Assistant Chief; Bobby Ivey, Carol Fredenberg, Craig Lowe, Jack Dyer, Beth Cook, Malcolm McConnel, Rosemary Rommel, George Furches, Betty Trantham, and Betty Sullivan. Largest Social Event Of Year Presented By C-Is By Polly Jean Yandell & Harold Bennett Father Time, in all his past, present, and future glory, feasted his patriarchal eyes on Mars Hill College’s juniors and seniors Saturday night, April 26, when they congregated in Miss Essie’s embellished' dining hall for what proved to be the largest and one of the most elaborate banquets ever held on this campus. The gala occasion was the an nual junior-senior feed where tears mingle with “zip” and “part ing farewells” are relayed over tablecloths from tearful C-I eyes to tear-soaked C-II orbs. And, beaming faces make brave at tempts to conceal sorrowful and reminiscing minds that drift over bygone junior college days and puzzle over what the future has in store for them. “Through The Years” With “Through The Years” as the banquet theme, “Pop” String- field represented unforgettable past. Dr. Blackwell, fast-moving present, and youthful Pat Sams, unpredictable future Mars Hill- ians. David Edens presided over the festivities as master of cere monies. Harold Bennett, president of the C-I’s, extended welcoming “glad you are heres”; and, Henry Crouch, senior executive, re sponded for the C-II guests. Evelyn Jowers expressed the theme in the song entitled: “Through the Years.” Entertainment Portion After the banquet hall program, the revelers adjourned to the col lege auditorium for the special entertainment portion of the eve ning. The C-I quartet, Hal Boyd, Jimmy Postelle, Bill Stapleton, and Frank Yandell serenaded the congregation. John Scalf added the dramatic touch with a reading; and, the skit, “April King,” con trasting the ancient May Queen custom, was enacted by Phil Weeks, and Bill Smith. The ly- ceum program was climaxed with a movie. (More on Page 4) I I i Ihevu-*" MISS SPAIN Mars Hill college’s Glee Club, eighty voices directed by Miss Elizabeth L.
